Harding careers day

Careers Day at Harding Secondary

Date of Event: 14 March 2017

Venue: Harding Secondary School

On the 14th March 2017, Bowline Security together with Law Hill Maritime School took advantage of the opportunity to talk to the children of Harding Secondary about the great opportunities the world has to offer.

This event mainly highlighted career paths available within the maritime industry and highlighted the importance of Cyber Security and Cyber threats that social media platforms bring.

Law Hill Maritime School was represented by Mrs Debbie Owen who gave an educational presentation about the Maritime industry as well as sharing the different career paths the sector has to offer. She then shared inspirational stories about past pupils from Law Hill Maritime School, that came from harsh backgrounds to now travelling the world and fulfilling their wildest dreams. Law Hill maritime School then offered students a bursary to study with them.

Shortly after, Miss Lwazi Phakathi from Bowline Security then took the stage and brought about awareness of Cyber Security and told the pupils about the Cyber threats within the different social media platforms, sharing different hacking cases that have taken place over the years. The pupils were intrigued and shocked to learn how vulnerable they were on social media. Miss Phakathi then went on and shared tips on how to safeguard your personal details on their social media accounts.

The goal for this event was to inform and excite the youth about the endless opportunities they have. It is safe to say that we achieved more than what was expected that day. We felt honoured to be amongst the youth and to share our life experiences within the different industries and inspire them to always believe in themselves that anything is possible. We believe that if the youth of today if given the knowledge they have the potential to help make the world a safer place.
